3 Step Guide: How to do a ‘Pull Up’

Ever felt jealous of the people you see easily pulling themselves into a pull up position? Well it’s time to tackle a challenge!

Step one: Jump up into the ‘pull-up’ position form a bench or a box. Hold your weight when at the top of the bar and focus on squeezing your shoulder blades together.

Step two: Once you have become comfortable with holding your weight at the top of the bar it is time to learn how to lower down. These are also referred to as a negative pull-up. Come to the top of the bar and then slowly lower yourself down, focusing on not hunching your shoulder sup and engage your back and abdominals.

Step three: Some people will add resistance bands to help. Use a looped band around the bar and try to avoid relying heavily on the band.

Remember these are all ways to help you complete a pull-up but it will take time!
