Indoor Cycling: Meet instructor Claire Turner

Hello I’m Claire and I currently teach three of the indoor cycling classes at My Fitness Hub on Wednesdays 06.35 and 18.15 and Sunday 16.00.

I believe that classes have to be fun and appealing otherwise you won’t work to your full potential. I encourage you throughout, and always offer alternatives. Not everyone likes standing up or feels comfortable doing jump tracks so listen for the alternatives. Classes are not just for the ‘super fit ‘ this is something I most definitely am not! I hurt my back in June this year and have made modifications to my practice but this doesn’t affect my delivery. I have a vast catalogue of plans which seem to be a hit so I often go back to the beginning.

Classes never seem to get easier, you get fitter and push yourself harder, a little quarter turn can make all the difference!

I like to use a range of different music from all different genres. I strive to be unpredictable so I use a wide range of music, from 80’s to the present day, hopefully something for everyone!

If ever you have any questions or song suggestions, I want you to ask me. If I can make the song fit, I will. If I don’t know the answer to your question, I’ll research it. I am a Pilates and yoga instructor too so I like to bring methods in to help with your indoor cycling journey and help with posture etc.

A typical class with me will cover a warm up (of course) seated climb, seated sprints or speed endurance track, standing climb, jumps and a few double up of these types of tracks, finally a cool down to rest the body and to stretch out.

I pride myself on everyone having a great time and getting the best workout possible.

I usually sound like a broken record, relax your shoulders, squeeze the shoulder blades in, don’t bounce – if you are you need more resistance. I am a hands-off instructor and always aim to talk around you set up and riding positions but if you are unsafe, I will correct you as subtly as possible.

Hope to see you at one of my classes soon!
Claire
