What is Foam Rolling?

Foam Rolling is a form of deep tissue massage which you can do by yourself.  It is formally known as Self-Myofascial Release.

By being the one in control, you can decide how much pressure to apply, and feel exactly which areas and muscles are in need of the most attention.

There are two main ways of using the roller; either by very slowly rolling the muscle along the roller or by finding a trigger point (knot) in the muscle and applying the pressure directly on to that specific point for about 20 seconds before moving on to the next area.

Due to our demanding lifestyles and many other contributing factors, our muscles can get extremely tight over time and can begin to lose flexibility and sometimes become painful.  By targeting deeply into the muscle using this technique of myofascial release we can help to break up and relax these tight muscles to help them and us to move better and function more efficiently with greater comfort.

Need guidance or motivation? Foam Rolling classes take place every Wednesday at 11am @ My Fitness Hub.
