Paul Yetman, a member of My Fitness Hub has set himself the challenge of cycling to 20 Premier League Football Stadiums in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital who saved his 3-year-old daughter’s life earlier this year.
Paul’s youngest daughter Nancy suffered two mini strokes in July, which resulted in her fighting for her life at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. Nancy was initially rushed to the QA as she complained of losing the use of her arm, and her speech was starting to slur. Later she was admitted to Southampton General Hospital with blood pressure of 240, three times of what you’d typically expect from a child of 3. At Southampton, Nancy was diagnosed with renovascular hypertension which was restricting the blood flow to her brain, heart and kidneys. Eventually, she was later transferred to Great Ormond Street. After 6 weeks, two operations and incredible care and compassion by all of the team at Great Ormond, Nancy was free to go home, but will be on medication for the rest of her life.
Paul, who is taking on the 1000+ mile trek with his friend Rob said: “The team at Great Ormond Street not only cared for our youngest girl, but also looked after us as a family. Whilst Nancy’s mum stayed with her in hospital, they also organised a charity run house for me and my eldest daughter, Saffron to stay in London so that we didn’t have to commute from Havant every day. They even organised a gift for Saffron as it was her birthday when Nancy was in Hospital. They were incredible. We’re raising the money to buy much needed equipment for the Hospital, our target of £5000.”

“I’m quite nervous about the challenge, as I’ve not done much cycling before, but with the help of the team at My Fitness Hub, and a bit of determination, I’m sure we will make Nancy proud, and hopefully raise lots of money in the process!”
Pompey fan Paul, along with Rob will leave from Fratton Park in April, and from there will head to the Amex Stadium in Brighton, before heading on to 19 other Premiership Clubs. They hope to collect some memorabilia from the clubs on their journey, which they will put towards an auction to raise even more money for the cause.
We will keep you posted on Paul’s progress with his training, and of course his challenge too. We wish him every success.
