Over 7 million women in the UK suffer with urinary incontinence so it’s very common BUT it’s not normal. You should never leak when you sneeze, cough or exercise. That’s your body’s way of telling you something is wrong. Ignoring it can lead to it significantly worsening as you hit menopause and often causes further problems throughout your body.

The current Tena Lady ‘Oops moment’ trampoline advert normalises leaking which is irresponsible in my view. You’d never stick a plaster over a deep wound that needs stitching or surgery, so using pads when the problem requires the right type of exercises and physio is not the solution we should be providing women. Providing education and guidance to women on how they can adapt their daily movements, how they can adapt exercises they enjoy or omit them while they recover and what is the best approach to reducing and stopping leaking is key. My own experience of leaking and the lack of awareness of what help was out there, led me to retrain and specialise in pelvic floor and core recovery for my personal training clients and classes.

Come along to my Pelvic Floor, Core and More Workshop on Wednesday 17th October 11:15 – 13:15 to learn strategies to stop incontinence, how to move and exercise with incontinence, prolapse or diastasis recti issues. Please contact Noelle if you have any questions-see details below

For further information on No more oops moments, MUTU System’s article highlights their approach and as a MUTU Pro myself, one I feel passionately about.
