LOTS OF SIT UPS WILL MAKE YOUR STOMACH FLAT!
IT’S A MYTH!
Yes sit ups will help to build and define your abs and yes training your core may help to pull your waist in slightly. But the truth of the matter is, if you really want a flat stomach you’re going to have to shed the excess body fat!
It’s the excess body fat over the top of your abdominal muscles that is making your stomach ‘stick out’ or not seem ‘flat’. We all have a six pack however whether we can see one or not is determined by our will power, consistency and work ethic!
Even when you are training hard and eating correctly just take into consideration that by training your abs this doesn’t mean that you are burning calories causing weight loss around the stomach. Unfortunately we aren’t gifted with the ability to pick and choose where we lose our body fat from, so training just your abs is not going to work. To some extent yes it will mean you are burning calories, but this will not equate to fat lose around the tummy you may find you lose weight around your hips first or legs.
So what next…
Now that you understand that doing 1000 sit ups a day is not going to give you a flat stomach how can you go about making the correct choices towards having a flat stomach?
- You MUST be in a calorie deficit to loose body fat.
- You MUST make sure that you are burning more calories than you are eating.
- You must be consistent with maintaining your calorie deficit and exercise regime.
- AND you must understand that it is going to take time, some longer than others depending on body fat percentage.
Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither is a flat stomach!
So next time you hear someone saying they’re going to do some ab exercises to make their stomach flat, just let them know that training abs doesn’t equate to moulding the body fat on their stomach into a six pack or flat stomach.
